Evo-Detailing

Mercedes 230 SL - Interior, Engine & Ext Detail.

Being a detailer sure has its advantages. One of them is gettin' to work on cars such as this one.

Left the factory in Stuttgart in 1966, in a rather boring green color.

Now, being totaly restoed it also needed some other kind of attention, the one only a detailer could provide.

Here is where my storry begins :

Since the car was kept in a garage, it needed no big wash, only ONR was enough to get it sorted.

Afther that, from a distance, it was lookin' good...

Or is it ? :)

Wet sanded and poorly polished at some time..

Anyway, the calying was carried out using the Mild Meg's Clay & Meg's Clay lube (quick detailer)

Quite a clean car as I imagined.

Meg's 205 on a White LC pad on the Rupes rotary was the choice, and the correct one it seems.

Quite happy :D

The piece of tape is there to help the camera focus.

Reflection on white color :D

Nice, with a little bit of buffer trails, but it is only the correction stage, polishing & finishing still left to go :)

Finishing & refining was carried out using 205 and a brand new black pad.

IMG_0333.jpg

And the results were astonishing...

IMG_0344.jpg

IMG_0355.jpg

Wax of choice was DoDo Juice Diamond White.

IMG_0356.jpg

IMG_0358.jpg

Brand new Meg's Buffing towel was used for the buff.

IMG_0361.jpg

Behold the results ! :)

Next a layer of Nano coating was applyed. Most of you will think that it is futile due to the wax underneath, but in adding protection you can never go wrong.

Ok, enough with the exterior, interior was next.

Here is a pic of the seats wearing the Rejuvinator Oil from Leatherique, it was left to penetrate the leather over night.

Door panels came first.

Then came the seats.

Becker Europa - The OEM radio dating 1966 :D. Still in mint condition.

IMG_0447.jpg

Can you say fat chrome ? :)

A drop of autosol and a drop of Meg;s 205 for this result.

IMG_0460.jpg

All rubber & seals hydrated.

IMG_0465.jpg

IMG_0479.jpg

Steering wheel.

IMG_0467.jpg

Do you have a light ? :)

IMG_0472.jpg

Finished Interior.

IMG_0490.jpg

Cleaned & dressed the engine as well.

This was the most exciting detail i did since... ever, but.... stay tuned ! ;)

Enjoy !

Alex.
